Students fly together to 弗洛伦斯, the capital of 意大利’s Tuscany region and home to many masterpieces of Renaissance art and architecture. Travel continues by bus to the beautiful medieval city of 沃尔泰拉 where students immerse in Tuscan culture and traditions.
For the next six weeks, students are based in 沃尔泰拉, a walled town southwest of 弗洛伦斯, and home to the central Palazzo dei Priori with medieval frescoes, the 沃尔泰拉 Cathedral, and the Guarnacci Etrurian Museum with a rich collection of archaeological artifacts. Students will explore the nearby remains of the Etruscan Acropolis and the Roman Theater complex with ruins of 3rd-century baths.
In addition to daily course work and local explorations, students participate in excursions to Rome, the capital city of 意大利 generally considered to be the cradle of Western civilization. Explore 弗洛伦斯, home to many masterpieces of Renaissance art and architecture including the iconic Duomo, and the Galleria dell'Accademia, which displays Michelangelo’s David sculpture. Students can shop 弗洛伦斯’s world-famous leather market and cross the Ponte Vecchio. 在锡耶纳, a city distinguished by its medieval brick buildings, students see the Palazzo Pubblico, the Gothic town hall, and Torre del Mangia, a slender 14th-century tower with sweeping views from its distinctive white crown.
Students can take optional excursions to Venice, built on a grid of canals between more than 100 small islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea, 和 庞贝古城, a vast archaeological site buried under ash and pumice after the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. The preserved site features excavated ruins of streets and houses to explore.
Students have time on weekends throughout the program to explore 意大利 on their own. Following the program, students depart from 弗洛伦斯 – although many choose to remain on in Europe to travel on their own.
需求: A minimum GPA of 3.0是必需的. Students with lower GPAs will be considered with permission of the instructor.
